Why did 2 CIA operatives come forward and "out" themselves to tell the truth for Dawn?

Because they were horrified that prosecutors withheld the truth and put an innocent person in prison!

Dawn Hanna Dawn Hanna is fighting for justice. Her family and friends are fighting with her. Dawn is serving one of the longest prison sentences in United States history for her unwitting participation in a CIA-sponsored, secret operation.
In July 2007, Dawn was indicted on a variety of charges. The U.S. government's case against Dawn has been riddled with deliberate omissions of facts and concealment of pertinent information. Several key facts in the case have recently come to light (including information hidden by the prosecution) since the beginning of the nearly six-year ordeal that Dawn and her family have endured.

Facts

Between 2002 and 2003, Dawn brokered 10-year-old, used telecommunications equipment for sale to Turkey, a legal operation, through a UK-based contact.

FACT: Dawn's brokering contact had always maintained that the equipment was destined for Turkey; not Iraq.

FACT: Dawn's contact, unbeknownst to her, was actually a CIA operative, participating in a secret U.S. government-sponsored operation involving Iraq.

FACT: Dawn was actually helping the U.S. government accomplish an important undercover mission.

The brokered equipment was destined for Iraq, a detail that was concealed from Dawn from the beginning. If the true intent and final destination of the equipment had been revealed, the operation would have been compromised, and people's lives would have been in danger.

Key Information Missing At Trial

In July 2007, more than four years after the original transaction, the U.S. government charged Dawn with a host of accusations with serious homeland security implications. The prosecutors in the case, Barbara McQuade and Michael Martin, hid the above-stated facts from the defense and, instead, prosecuted the case as if Dawn knew that the brokered equipment was headed to Iraq and wanted to help Saddam Hussein ... the exact opposite of the truth.

In October 2008, the trial concluded, and the jury found Dawn guilty on several charges. On September 8, 2009, Dawn began serving a 72-month prison sentence ... one of the longest given in U.S. history for violating U.S. trade sanctions with Iraq.

The Fight For Justice

After Dawn's appalling sentence, two key individuals who were working with the CIA came forward, "outed" themselves, and have given sworn testimony detailing the facts of the case, which were known to the U.S. government the entire time.

Although a motion was filed for a new trial where the newly revealed information could be presented to a jury, Judge Marianne O. Battani ruled against the motion.

  • Read the sworn testimony of a CIA operative detailing how the equipment in question was part of a secret U.S. CIA operation, how Dawn was not told of its real destination, and how the U.S. government knew this the whole time.

  • Read a letter to Judge Battani alleging abuse of government power by concealing the truth and citations of unethical prosecution.

  • Read the article in Crain's Detroit Business telling how Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow both recommended that Barbara McQuade, the prosecutor in this case, be promoted to US Attorney for Detroit.

Do you want a prosecutor who withholds the truth and puts an innocent person like Dawn in prison leading all prosecutions in Detroit?
